Abstract

The metrological activity is of special importance for each country. By passing the Law about the establishment and activities of ministries and other authorities, the Republic Croatia has come up to the foundation of the State Institute for the Normalization and Measurements. In order to emphasize the importance of this achievement and of further activity of this Institute for the purposes of Croatian economy and industry, as well as for our geodetic activity, this work brings forth a significant role of measuring uniformity and especially of the calibrating system base for distance measuring instruments and angles. In this connection, the importance of the calibration base belonging to the Faculty of Geodesy in Zagreb has been pointed out in order to achieve the uniformity in measuring of greater distances, as well as the necessity to establish authorized calibrations laboratory for distances and angles.
