The first confirmed breeding of the Black-headed Bunting Emberiza melanocephala in Eastern Croatia

Abstract
The first breeding of the Black-headed Bunting Emberiza melanocephala for Eastern
Croatia was confirmed during the months of June and July 2022 between the villages of
Vrpolje and Velika Kopanica in the Brod-Posavina County. In total, five singing males,
three females and two successful broods (consisting of one and three fledged juveniles)
were observed in abandoned and weed-rich agricultural fields.
