Abstract
In this paper the accuracy of static and kinematic modes is examined on the basis of a comparison with the results achieved by the Mekometer ME 5000 and the precise levelling. The accuracy obtained in the kinematic mode was 3.92 mm for distances and 1.05 cm for differences of heights, which approved the prosperity of this method in all branches of geodesy. The static mode showed an extraordinary high accuracy of 0.6 mm. However, only one distance was measured (because of limited time availability of equipment), hence it is impossible to make a general conclusion that the accuracy is all ways so high.
