Abstract

Corporate governance is an insufficiently researched segment in the hotel sector which is characterized by the intensive work activities and specific work environment. In this paper, an explorative study of secondary data helped to determine the characteristics of corporate governance practices of hotel companies in the Croatian business environment that belongs to the closed model of corporate governance. Descriptive analysis of the annual corporate governance questionnaires points to the lack of corporate transparency in the sampled hotel companies. With the theoretical foundation of corporate governance in the hotel sector, this work forms the basis for future empirical research in this area.
