Italian language certifications in Croatia

Sažetak

Knowing a language is a necessary tool in intercultural communication, and having a valid proof of knowledge of a foreign language is an essential need in every professional context. Due to the historical, geographical, cultural and economic ties between Croatia and Italy, the certificate of Italian language competence enables the strengthening of international cooperation in other global fields. The following language documents are available in the Republic of Croatia: certificates of knowledge of the Italian language, certificates issued by foreign language schools and international CILS and PLIDA certificates. This paper shows certain specifications of each individual document, with an emphasis on the legally most important - certificates, as well as renowned language institutions, i.e. accredited centers, where it is possible to acquire them. The language exams, requirements for taking them, application procedures and evaluation methods are described in detail, after which the user obtains an Italian language certificate.
