Sažetak

In this article, an attempt is made to contribute to the discussions whether during the so-called during the Little Ice Age, there were direct or indirect effects of volcanic eruptions on the weather conditions in northern Croatia, including in Podravina. Four volcanic ones were chosen. The first eruption refers to the Vesuvius volcano on the Apennine peninsula in 1771. The second refers to the volcanic fissure Laki (Lakagígar) in Iceland in 1783. The third is related to the eruption of an unknown volcano in 1808 or 1809, and the fourth to the great eruption of the Tambora volcano in 1815. For the research, 25 Catholic parishes were taken from the area of civil Croatia (Varaždin County and Križevačka County), from the northern part of the Croatian-Slavonic Military Frontier and the southern part of the Hungarian County of Zala. At the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, a minor crisis was noticeable after 1771, while the major crises were in 1785–1788. and after 1810, and especially 1814–1817. year, which would coincide with the periods after the aforementioned volcanic eruptions.
