Abstract

This paper examines the pervasive impact of technology and the Internet on the global economy, with a particular focus on the evolution of mobile telecommunications technologies and the potential implications of the introduction of 5G networks. The analysis is based on a survey of respondents' perceptions of the impact of 5G technology on the business environment, using quantitative and qualitative research methods, including a survey conducted among residents of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia. The paper aims to understand how 5G can reshape the global economy, create new business models, jobs and generate higher revenues, with research on technical aspects and the potential benefits and challenges that 5G brings to different sectors of the economy. The primary focus is on identifying the key advantages of 5G technology compared to previous generations of networks and its possible contribution to further economic growth and innovation, while the respondents' perception of the technical aspects and potential impact of 5G on the global economic environment is also explored.
