Sažetak
Forensic analysis of the inks of commercially available ballpoint pens has always been a challenge for forensic scientists, since they can be used for various types of counterfeits. Ballpoint pens inks are mixtures composed of dyes, organic solvents and additives. The basic approach in determining the differences in the composition of the inks of ballpoint pens is the identification of the dyes of which the inks are composed. The most commonly used dyes in blue ballpoint pens inks are triarylmethane dyes: Crystal violet (CV), Methyl violet (MV), Tetramethylpararosaniline (Tetra-PRS) and Victoria blue B (VB). The blue inks of ballpoint pens can have a different composition of dyes that can be determined by different methods of chemical analysis. Analysis were carried out by the method of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which proved to be the "gold standard" in forensic analyses of blue inks of ballpoint pens. Similarities and differences between the analysed blue inks of ballpoint pens from different manufacturers were determined based on identified dyes carried out by high-performance liquid chromatography method.
