Sažetak

The influence and effect of media reporting on migrant topics is extremely important, especially in the context of shaping the attitudes and opinions of different publics, that is, media consumers. The journalistic narrative about migrants has changed over time, and even today it is subject to different social, cultural and political circumstances, as well as the legal framework of the country in which it is reported. In addition, media practices largely depend on the editorial policies and informational priorities of each country (agenda-setting theory), but also on current social trends and changes occurring at the national and broader levels. In addition, journalistic reporting largely depends on the different use of narratives, so it is extremely important to understand the methods of shaping the media text, which most often rely on different theoretical bases such as cultivation theory, framing theory and indexing theory. Therefore, this overview paper aims, through the analysis of dozens of papers, to present current media reporting on migrant topics, to present different journalistic approaches, to interpret the theoretical basis of the media narrative, but also to present some guidelines for more responsible reporting indicated by world organizations.
