Thymoma in a dog

Sažetak
The thymus is an organ composed of epithelial and lymphoid tissue. Thymic neoplasms can arise from both components, and thymomas develop from the epithelial component and are usually benign. They usually grow slowly, are encapsulated and rarely metastasize. Clinically, animals with thymoma have signs consistent with a space-occupying mass in the thoracic cavity, such as respiratory distress, and edema in the ventral part of the head and neck. Histologically, they are very variable, which makes their diagnosis
and classification difficult. This report presents the histopathological finding of a thymoma in a 10-year-old female dog. The tumor was submitted for histopathological examination to the Department of Veterinary
Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb.
