Abstract

Artificial intelligence is but one aspect of the ever-growing technical progress. Systems that use it are capable of observing, collecting data, accomplishing tasks, and making decisions, with the most significant characteristic being their ability to learn. With regard to safety at work, artificial intelligence may be useful in the implementation and ensuring safety of workers, environment and property, in that it may be employed in risk assessment and training of workers, evacuation or detection of irregularities and hazards at work, and in notifying workers and persons responsible for safety at work. Furthermore, artificial intelligence may be used as a form of assistance to the workers in the performance of their tasks, especially where it can take over when the worker is in danger or in performing more demanding tasks. In addition, it enables monitoring each worker individually, which may yield personalized information. Artificial intelligence has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include minimization of errors and all-day accessibility, while the disadvantages consist of the high costs of the implementation of this system and a lack of emotional quality. It is believed that in the future artificial intelligence will replace most routine jobs.
