Abstract

The role of nurses in clinical trials has significantly expanded, creating a need to recognize them as a team member. Clinical trials, which enable the study of drug effects, are conducted in a team-based setting; however, terminology in Croatia remains inadequately standardized, complicating the understanding of their specialized role. Nurses in trials often assume roles as Clinical research coordinators (CRC) and Study nurses (SN), bearing responsibility for participant safety, organization, and communication. Unfortunately, Croatia conducts only 1% of clinical trials in Europe annually, facing challenges such as limited knowledge, lack of resources, and insufficient recognition of their contribution.
