Abstract

In the article the author analyzes the toponyms and nicknames in one poem-mocking song which was published by Đurđica Dusper Ivančić in her book Da nas ne bi bura zela. By reading the names and nicknames from the poem and by searching through the Stališ duša (the State of the souls - a document enumerating people in a particular parish) of the Parish of Crikvenica, the indicative period when the song was created was discovered, and it interprets the individual toponyms and nicknames associated with the aforementioned. He was also occupied with the old name of the central square of Crikvenica the “Cirkul” and he determined that that name does not come from the geometric shape of the circle, but rather from the purpose of gathering and socializing of the inhabitants of Crikvenica at that location. He arrives at that conclusion by linking the Italian word circolo and its different meanings.
