Abstract
The Crikvenica City Museum conducted conservational archaeological research of the castle of Drivenik in the period from December 2009 until March 2010 as part of the reconstruction and revitalisation of the castle which is led my the Municipality of Vinodol. The preservation research comprises only the interior of the castle. The stratigraphy is documented in the angles of the towers (sector 1, 2, 3) and in the eastern part of the central area (sector 8). In the rest of the castle the stratigraphy references have been significantly disturbed by excavations ion the past. The prehistoric ground level was determined in the layers of earth over almost all of the researched area. There are the remains of ceramics that originated from the Bronze Age fort which existed on the levelled top of Drivenik hill. Most of the movable finds date from the late Middle Ages and Modern Age. This was the time of the castle’s construction during the first half of the 26th century and the period of its intensive use was throughout the 17th century.
