Abstract

Miroslav Špiler is a composer, conductor, pianist and a music pedagogue born in Crikvenica in 1906. He graduated conducting under Frane Lhotka and composition under Arnold Schönberg in Berlin. From 1931. He worked at Radio Zagreb. Part of the war years he spent with the partisans. He composed 75 works for piano and mixed choir, and 20 new arrangements of already existing national themes. He spent most of his life in Sarajevo where, along with composing, he primarily worked as a pedagogue.
