Sažetak

In this paper, the author highlights the importance of applying alternative models to juvenile offenders and presents a comparative legal analysis of legislative solutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Republic of Croatia. The legislative solutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, as well as the purpose of the alternative models, are almost identical in both criminal legislations. The emergence of juvenile delinquency requires a high-quality and comprehensive approach because it is socially unacceptable behaviour of minors, as the most sensitive category in society, which should be treated differently from adults. Alternative models represent a common name for alternative measures and sanctions imposed on juvenile offenders. Those represent alternatives to the sanctions of institutional treatment, so their purpose is reflected in the need for preventive actions in order to prevent and suppress juvenile delinquency.
