Abstract

Ivan Mažuranić is a descendant of the literary family Mažuranić (Antun, Matija, Ivan, Fran) from Vinodol. He was a writer, statesman and politician, the first plebeian civil governor and the founder of the modern Croatian state. He finished the 14th and 15th verse of the Gundulić’s ”Osman” and is the author of the epic ”The Death of Smail Aga Čengić” the most important piece of reform literature.
