FINE ARTS TRADITION IN SELCE

Sažetak

The first painting exhibition in Selce was in 1921. Ivan Papić started his painting activities in his art studio at the waterfront. Apart from the already mentioned artist, other artist, graphic artists, self-taught artists lived and worked in Selce. Some of them are: Anton Coratti, Hajrudin Kujundžić, Vilim Lončarić, Dušan Lončarić, Marijan Mavrić. There were four active galleries in Selce: ”Toč”, ”2L”, ”Gallery Coratti” and ”Gallery Tourist”. Various famous Croatian artists visited and worked in Selce and with a huge effort of the Tourist Board and artists from Selce a respectable collection of top Croatian artists have been collected. Since 1998 the gallery ”Stara škola”1 continuous with its activities with the cooperation of the Artists Group Lirac as a new driving force of the artistic scene in Selce.
