Abstract

This paper reviews the technology for the development of interactive web maps and the capabilities of the OpenLayers library for creating interactive web maps. Along with Leaflet, OpenLayers is the most popular library for creating interactive web maps and advanced webGIS systems. This library enables the development of complex webGIS applications by providing an extensive set of functionalities such as managing map layers, drawing and editing geometric objects, measuring distances or areas, and supporting work in different map systems and projections. The OpenLayers library enables simple adaptation or expansion of existing functionalities with regards to the specific requirements of individual projects, which makes it popular for the development of customized and complex webGIS solutions.
