Sažetak

The new issue of Polytechnica contains four interesting articles dealing with current problems in engineering and technology education, but also with new technologies. The first article contains an interesting study on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, namely in the development of tests to test students' knowledge. Based on the research, the authors conclude that the use of technologies such as ChatGPT can save teachers valuable time and thus reduce their workload, but can also improve the quality of the tests. In addition, teachers generally expressed their willingness to continue using this technology in their daily work. The second article presents the results of an investigation into the cognitive and metacognitive aspects of motivational processes as a basis for the acceptance and use of technology in people of different ages. The results confirm that age is a significant predictor of task completion time, ease of use and perceived usefulness of technology. It is also highlighted that crystallised intelligence is a predictor of perceived ease of use, cognitive motivation is a predictor of time taken to complete tasks, and both metacognitive variables are predictors of the motivational variables of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. In addition, ease of use is a perceived predictor of motivation and ease of use is a predictor of perceived usefulness. The third article provides an interesting overview and analysis of the potential influence of religious beliefs in reducing negative environmental impacts through education. The authors conclude that the wisdom drawn from religious worldviews can spiritually awaken young generations through education and thus reduce negative environmental impacts in the future. They argue that they should shift their focus from the material to the spiritual values of life, which provide peace, joy and harmony, promote personal development and self-realisation, and do not strive to prove themselves but act for the common good and sustainability of humanity. The final article provides an interesting analysis and overview of the legal regulations relating to the use of autonomous and automated vehicles. Based on the analysis, the need to update Croatian legislation in line with European regulations is pointed out and proposals for legal and regulatory guidelines are presented to ensure the legal, safe and efficient use of these technologies in Croatia.
