Library Forensics: Book Thieves, who are they?

Sažetak

The paper provides an overview of some contemporary cases, as well as historical examples of theft, from library collections, that have been recorded in professional literature and periodicals, as well as in print and electronic media, primarily French. It will be shown that the threat to library collections is not only posed by users but also by librarians. Furthermore, the paper will present various aspects of motivation, and even the methodology of the thefts, and to justify the thesis that the theft of library materials is a more serious offense than the theft of books in a bookstore.
