Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyse academic stress in students in the context of pedagogical factors, its psychological consequences and possible preventive strategies to mitigate it. The aim of the study is to identify the main causes of academic stress, its impact on students’ academic performance and mental health, and effective interventions in the school environment. Academic stress is increasingly common among students due to the academic expectations of parents, teachers, relatives and the adolescents themselves. High levels of stress can have a negative impact on students’ mental health, academic performance and future educational opportunities. Research shows that academic stress is largely related to the structure of the modern education system, including standardised tests, grading systems and extensive curricula that increase the workload of adolescents. Teachers’ expectations are often shaped by curricula, external assessments and educational policies, which further increases stress for students. To alleviate academic stress, educational priorities, particularly assessment methods and curriculum scope, need to be reconsidered. In addition to institutional changes, family support, work on personal development, a positive school climate and prevention programmes to strengthen students’ resilience play an important role.
