Sažetak

Invasive alien species (IAS) pose a significant global issue, threatening biodiversity and ecosystems on both local and global scales. As a result of the high degree of globalization, the anthropogenic factor is causing intentionally or unintentionally the introduction of these species into a certain region through various transport routes. This paper presents the currently documented occurrences of twelve invasive alien plant species (IAPS) in the eastern region of Kosovo based on field surveys conducted between 2020–2024. Some species were found in multiple localities and habitats, while others were recorded in fewer sites. Based on observations, rivers had a high number of IAPS occurrences and their populations at several surveyed points along their banks. Research on the distribution of IAPS contributes to addressing this significant issue in the conservation of local biodiversity and ecosystems, as well as the development of effective management strategies for controlling these species.
