The first period of test development and testing practices in the Republic of Croatia from 1912 to 1931
Krunoslav Matešić
Sažetak
The author's opinion is that the entire development of tests and testing practices in Croatia could be divided into four periods. The first period began in 1912 with the publication of the first Binet-Simon test translation and ended in 1931 with the establishment of the Councelling centre for career choice in Zagreb. The second period began on 2nd January 1932 with the opening of the Councelling centre and lasted until 1948 when tests were abolished and testing ceased following a political attack on leading psychologists and psychological theory of the time. The reestablishment of professional guidance services in 1952 and the creation of the independent Republic of Croatia, with certain subphases, mark the third period. The fourth period began with independence. This article covers the first period of nonsystematic, sporadic test publication and testing attempts in Croatia.
