Sažetak
Certain experts in Slovenia started to think about the improvement of
village sites already soon after World War II, when the new concept of
settlement and spatial development in the social system of that time
was evolving. Social and economic transformation in the agricultural
space is evident mainly in villages. Thus there appeared in Slovenia the need for the improvement of village sites, following the example of several European countries. Some ten years ago the Ministry of
Agriculture decided to initiate the projects for the improvement and
development of village sites. An analysis showed that the projects
would be much more successful if we followed the international examples, especially those from the province Bavaria, and if adequate methodology was adapted to the level of development in
Slovenia. Adequate services will have to be founded, the methodology
for the improvement and development of village sites improved, and
adequate financial funds provided. Further on, the projects will have
to be complemented by the ways of the redistribution of lots. Despite
some weaknesses we can already see successes seen in the improvement of village sites. Adequate legislation will have to be adopted and in this way also the jurisdiction between the ministries will be clearer. This will create the conditions for sustainable development and strengthening of the democracy at the local level.
