Snježana Šalamon
Sažetak
The aim of the evaluation of individual treatment for consumers of marijuana in the Counselling Centre for Addiction Problems of the City of Zagreb was to evaluate the achievements of the counselling process in their work with young marijuana users. This is the first research of this kind in Croatia. In accordance with the aims of counselling treatment and research problems a special questionnaire was constructed which clients filled out at the beginning and end of the counselling treatment. The research included 51 clients /examinees who participated in the counselling process in the duration of three to four months. The examinees were secondary-school students, experimenters and consumers of marijuana aged from 15 to 19. For all examinees this was the first and only expert intervention connected to their consumption of marijuana. The data analysed at group level indicated that in all relevant areas - knowledge, attitudes, family relationships, relation towards school, self-respect, free time – there was a significant advance in the treatment function. The evaluation showed that the described treatment was successful and advisable for consumers of so-called soft drugs and can be recommended for use in other similar institutions in Croatia as well.
