Abstract

The significance of energy certification for buildings is described in the introductory part. After that, principal requirements contained in the Directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings, and the objective and methodology for preparing the energy performance certificate, are presented. Principal elements for energy audit of new and existing buildings, as needed for preparation of energy performance certificates, are given.
