The Journal of Contemporary History is a scientific journal that publishes the results of research important for contemporary history. The journal is published by the Croatian Institute of History. In 2003, the journal was classified as an A1 category journal, whose quality is on par with journals with an internationally recognised reviewing process. The Journal of Contemporary History is referenced in the following publications: Croatian Bibliography, Series B; Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL); European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS); Historical Abstracts (EBSCOhost); International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS); Scopus; Ulrichsweb, Global Serials Directory; Web of Science Core Collection, Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).
