Abstract

Small procedures in gynecology and obstetrics are performed in female patients of all age groups. The choice of anesthesia or analgesia depends on the type of operative procedure, clinical condition of patient, position during procedure and some other characteristics. Small procedures in gynecology are predicted and are done as one-day surgery because patients leave the hospital after 2 to 6 hours and are invited for furhter controls if necessary. That is why the type of operative procedure as well as the type of anesthesia are very important. Owing to development of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy selection of anesthetics and analgetics is large. Rapid-acting hypnotics (propofol), rapid-acting opioids (alfentanyl-remifentanyl) and perspirating anestetics (sevorane) are often and well combined for the purpose of easier management of anesthesia and postoperative analgesia. Collaboration of gynecologist and anesthesiologist is of major importance for success of procedure and safety of patient.
