Abstract

Examples from recent business practice, whether they consider business organizations or public administration, indicate that more and more attention is given to organizational values which determine the direction for decision making at all levels of the organization. According to this trend the number of professional and scientific papers dealing with organizational values has been increasing. At the same time organizational values are usually observed from a specific perspective, which ignores the fact that the organizational values are a very complex concept. The purpose of this paper is to examine the concept of organizational values from several different angles and emphasize its complexity. This is achieved through typology of organizational values within which the organizational values are divided into types according to seven different criteria. The paper therefore provides a comprehensive figure of organizational values and as such will be useful to both theoreticians and practitiones who deal with organization, especially to those whose focus of interest are soft organizational variables and their impact on organizational effectiveness.
