Abstract
This essay questions the ways in which cinematic mode of production constructs modern and postmodern identities. By exploring various theories, from Jonathan Beller’s politics of the visible to Walter Benjamin’s and Slavoj Žižek’s work on ideology, the essay points to the possibility of the political theology of film. Political theology of film is critique of hierarchical order of cinematic images established by cinematic mode of production.
Keywords
political theology of film; cinematic mode of production; society of the spectacle
