Abstract

Migration Policy of the European Union, which is based on solidarity and responsibility, as well as on the consistent application of the European tradition of social justice and human rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, is part of the overall security policy of the European Union. A significant contribution to the operationalization of the determined objectives of internal and external security policy of the European Union is realized through the European Union agency called FRONTEX.
FRONTEX coordinates operational cooperation of Member States in the management of external borders; assists Member States in the training of national border officers, including the establishment of common training standards; carries out risk analyzes; monitors investigations which are important for the control and supervision of external borders; assists Member States in circumstances requiring increased technical and operational assistance at external borders and provides support to member States in organizing joint return operations.
FRONTEX strengthens the security of the European Union's external borders by ensuring the coordination of action of EU Member States in implementing Union measures relating to the management of external borders.
