Abstract
The 4th International Conference on Additive Technologies – iCAT
2012 gathered in Maribor, Slovenia from 19 to 21 September 2012
the leading experts from all over the world. At the Conference, more
than 100 authors presented 35 papers and 14 poster papers on trends,
quality control, simulation methods, the development of materials
and processes and their application in various industries from engineering
to medicine. The Conference was organized by the Faculty
of Mechanical Engineering University of Maribor, the Danube Adria
Association for Automation and Manufacturing (DAAAM), the Medical
Faculty University of Ljubljana, and the network rapiman.net
(Innovative Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Network). The
organizers attracted many well-known authors, such as D. Bourell,
J. Homa, M. Janse van Vuuren, L. T Dean, T. Wholers, P. Reeves, X.
Wang and many others. The iCAT Conference emerged between the
rapid prototyping and 4D printing period. It evolved from provoking
interest and cooperation of all kinds of experts, ranging from artists,
designers, mechanical engineers all the way to medical doctors.
