Abstract
The storerooms of the Museum of Slavonia in Osijek hold a large number of Roman bone objects, among which are needles for sewing, knitting and embroidering. These needles are stored in the Antiquity Subdivision of the Archaeological Department and form part of the Collection of Bone Items. The needles presented in this paper were acquired by the Museum at the end of the 19th and in the first half of the 20th century. Since there is no archaeological context for them, the needle analysis here relies on a general chronological framework of the certain types. This paper analyzes 163 Roman bone needles from the area of ancient Mursa in catalog form.
