Abstract

During their five years of study students learn and improve their knowledge about HIV infection as a basis for successful diagnosing, treatment and protection of HIV infected patients. The study included a questionnaire which was completed by 128 fifth year students in the School of Dental Medicine University of Zagreb. Questions were divided into four groups. The first group consisted of questions on general knowledge about HIV infection, the second group included questions on HIV protection, the third group on risks of HIV infection and the fourth group comprised questions about willingness to treat HIV infected patients. The results of the study suggest that there are certain gaps in the students ’ knowledge about HIV infection.
