Abstract

Morphological anomalies o f the teeth may appear in every developmental stage o f the embryological life and they result in different morphological entities. Due to the difficulty in distinguishing
fusion from gemination, both morphologic entities are called »double tooth«. The purpose of this study was to establish the frequency of the »double tooth«, distribution of anomalies between sex and their association with other odontogenic anomalies. The investigation was carried out on the 2832 plaster models from the Department of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry, University of Zagreb. The »double tooth« has been found in three male patients (0,9%). In both cases the anomalies affected the upper permanent central incisors. The association with other odontogenic anomalies was not found.
