Abstract

In 2009 and 2010 a series of rescue archaeological excavations were carried out on the route of the main pipeline Slobodnica – Donji Miholjac. One of the excavated sites (AN 39 Malinovac–Blata 1) yielded an urn grave of the Barice-Gređani cultural group, dated to the Late Bronze Age. The burial pit contained a ceramic urn, with the bottom turned upwards, covered with a layer of soot mixed with fragments of two ceramic vessels and the head of a bronze pin. The urn contained cremated remains of an adult female. The importance of this site is in the fact that it is the northernmost grave of the Barice-Gređani cultural group, which was widespread in the Posavina region. Near the grave a contemporary, Late Bronze Age, settlement was detected.
