Abstract

This paper develops a feminist analysis of the female characters in the children’s novel The Strange Adventures of Apprentice Hlapić. Ivana Mažuranić’s diaries Good Morning, World! support a subversive reading of the novel. Finally, the paper justifies the focus of literary criticism and literary history on the author’s biography as a tool in analyzing this novel, in addition to its aesthetic reading.
