Abstract
Defensible Space Theory its beginnings have in the early 70th in the United States of America, when the crime crossed all the acceptable boundaries and when traditional methods and measures did not give solutions to this problem of crime. Also Defensible Space Theory occurs at the time of creation of Situational Crime Prevention concept and as first theory with situational characteristics become the core of most environmental planning and designs. Since the time of its creation theory has undergone a number of critics (excused and unexcused), oblivion, and re-interested of professionals and the gene-ral public.
This paper brings theoretical analysis and review of the origin of the theory, the time of its success, the biggest criticism and oblivion, and the time of re-awakening of interest.
