Abstract

The authors tested electrical phenomena on different metals used for tooth crowns, bridges and fillings of teeth. The testing and measuring were conducted in vivo and in vitro. In both series galvanic corrosion was established. On the basis of the incidence recordet and the intensity of electrical changes on metals in the mouth the conclusion was reached by the auithors that destruction, abrasion and breaking of the applied metals are caused by the use of different metals in the same oral cavity. They emphasize particularly that dental amalgams are in fact galvanically heterogenous because of their different origin and the manner of preparation.
