Abstract
A considerable number of handicapped persons ih this country indicates that continuous routine dental treatment should be provided for them in order to protect and .maintain their teeth. Lack of dental care which results in decayed teeth and a premature loss of teeth means an additional handicap to an already handicaped individual. Adequate dental treatment for such persons is even more important as they generally lack oral hygiene and proper nutrition, faktors which contribute to the prevalence of dental caries.Routine dental care would not only eliminate the patients' pains but also some
pathological processes of the oral cavity, of frequently caused by dental caries. The preservation of primary teeth would facilitate regular clento-facial development and (ensure ;correct speech which is an extremely important factor in handicapped childeren. This would further result in proper mastication and general improvement
of the physical and emotional make-up of the handicapped child.
