In this catechesis, the Pope speaks as a theologian and pastor, addressing the faithful and visitors from all over the world. On this occasion, Benedict XVI explains the theological concepts of community, heritage and tradition. Furthermore, he focuses on the rich heritage of the Church's history, which he explains by representative characters from the Church in their historical periods. Following the comments of psalms and hymns from lauds and vespers, the Pope spoke about the founding of the Church, tradition and the Apostles, the Church Fathers and significant people from medieval and Byzantine Christianity, the Apostle Paul, and prominent people from the year of the priest, saints, prominent women from the middle and modern age and the holy Doctors of the Church.
