Abstract
The growth process for the human being is an imperative for existance and life. In that sense the author examines and searches the possibility and chances of growth for the religion teacher through proactive and reactive behaviour and positions. He points out that the religion teacher has a need to continually invest in his own growth through those two general attitudes and dispositions. His point of departure is humanistic psychology with its theoretical base and research which evaluates man's transcendental dimension. The author explains the origin of the terms proactiveness and reactiveness while citeing the results of several authors that are experts in this area. He also asks, to what degree does the religion teacher's reactive and proactive motivation effect the results of his work. Based on the research results of several cited authors, the author pleads for motivational support for the religion teacher in proactivity. He emphasizes that faith and apostolate are proactive motivations for the religion teacher. As such they are recommended as an approach to life.
