Abstract

Research of hematological features of glass lizard was conducted on the island Cres and at Klis, area in vicinity of Split. The island of Cres is representative of a north adriatic insular population, while area Klis is representative of south adriatic continental population. Besides the slow worm, glass lizard is the only legless lizard and the largest one that inhabits Croatian coastal area which is the Northwest frontier of this species. The goal of my research was to determine the hematological features for better understanding of the biology of this species and also to compare them on the basis of gender and different locations where individuals of this species occur and observe whether there is a significant difference within 65 values of the hematological features. Results demonstrated that significant differences exist within 24 hematological features among individuals sampled in each of these two locations, whereas these differences weren't noted between males and females.
