Abstract

Considering the basic positions (sitting and standing) acquired by a physician-stomatologists in his work, this study was carried out to determine the stomatologist’s hand motion powers in the sitting position at variously defined angles of the arm against the body, depending on the arm position. The study was performed in a group of 46 healthy male subjects, by means of the equipment consisting of a gripper with an electro-recistant tape, a gauge and a recorder registering the motion-obtained malformations. In conclusion it could be pointed out that the hand motion power depending on the arm position in the working area greater when the arm is leaned on a surface than when it is not thus supported. In all measurements, the maximal power values were obtained with the forearm leaned vertically on a frontal surface. Accordingly, a conclusion could be made on the importance of recognizing the magnitude of these powers for optimal creation of the stomatologist’s working place, particularly its part related to the mechanical factors responsible for both quality and quantity of the motion in his work on patients.
