Abstract

The assembly of the Croatian Chamber of Economy has enacted, on the basis of the Law on the Croatian Chamber of Economy (Official gazette no. 66/91 and 73/91) and the Statute of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (Official gazette no. 56/91-172/1) the Code of ethics on business conduct (Official gazette no.71/05). “Provisions of this Code of ethics are compulsory for all business subjects on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, who have signed the declaration on acceptation of the Code of ethics”. Disregarding the number of signature parties, in this paper the author analyses the contents of the Code of ethics which reaffirms the significance of the ethics on business conduct as a special kind of ethics, primarily in the business relationships in Croatia. The Code of ethics has demanding nomotehnical requirements (preamble, title, content, space and time significance).
It is suggested to other subjects to enact “their own code of ethics”, never mind the standing obligation derived from rules of this Code of ethics. This is connected with complying to the prescribed principles, legal norms and conventional relations. The behaviour is good or bad in the interim relations of business subjects, mutual relations, the working out of Code of ethics infringements and other relations.
