Abstract

Hypothyroidism is one of the most common endocrine
diseases with a higher incidence among
women and the elderly. It is estimated that 200 million
people in the world have some form of thyroid
disease. Although hypothyroidism is easily curable
disease still remain challenges related to diagnosis
and treatment. Family physicians have sufficient
knowledge and experience to be able to diagnose and
treat hypothyroidism. In order to get the most out
of treatment it requires an individual approach and
partnership with the patient. This paper describes the
case report on how to approach a patient with symptoms
suggestive of thyroid disease. In this paper is
represent diagnostic algorithm for investigation of
thyroid dysfunction and dose titration method.
