Abstract

This paper shows, via a kind of an intermedial approach, how movie The Believer by Henry Bean presents the colision of religion, as a sort of an ideological apparatus, and its opposing ideology. The movie, and therefore the paper as well, positions the individual in the centre of that conflict, but it also positions him as the frame of the conflict, so the consequences of the colision include psychological distress, or a rupture in identity as well as in psyche. The paper ultimately reaches the infinite loop of a self-punishing relationship.
