Abstract

Neurophysi.ological techniques for evaluating dysfunction of each cervical
root are reviewed: electromyographic investigation by needle electrodes, measurement
of myotatic reflex latencies, measurement of amplitudes of muscle evol\:ed
potentials, sensory neurography and measurement of amplitudes and latencies of
brachial ple~us, cerv.ical spinal and cortical somatosensory evoked potentials.
Three patients with different cervical root lesions and different durations of
comp1aints are described. The usefulness and limitations of neurophysiological
evaluation of cervical root lesions are discussed.
