Abstract
In the collection called Voices (Glasovi) Slovene oral tradition is published
in the form of folk tales as they exist in Slovene dialects. From its beginning
in 1988 to the year 2005 thirty books were published. In this article twelve different
edition that represent all regions of Slovenia are discussed. As already
started folk tales are published in their original dialect which is of great importance
as far as the conservation of the dialectal syntax is considered. A special
attention is given to dialectal terms, which are systematized into several
semantic groups. It is essential to form similar semantic groups of dialectical
terms for all Slovenian regions. So we can speak about semantic determination
of Slovene dialectical terms. Some groups of them are: social and juridical
relations (such terms are: žarnada, taberh, which means daily work of a
hired labourer), pieces of land (terms: troza means way in the field, spodmolci
means land, which erosion carries off), terms about forests, buildings of farm
and parts of them, terms about parts of carriage, axes, food, mythological beings
etc. Examination of semantic terminological groups reveals that terms
which originate from the dialect and which are connected with rural area are
very precise, in special groups even more precise than terminology in our literary
language. As we see many dialectical terms are not in use today. The
reason for this is the disappearance of activities that these terms describe. But
if an activity or a subject is still present, the term it is describing still exists.
Dialectical terminology is autonomous stratum of words. From this point of
view we are afraid that it will be substituted with more general and unprecise
expressions in the future. In the article the contribution of the collection
Voices to the language value is emphasized.
